About this group

ZanSea is an initiative focused on enhancing geographic information system (GIS) capabilities within Zanzibar. It has two primary objectives. The first is to develop the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) into a national competence center for managing environmental and social data using GIS. The second objective is to develop a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) that facilitates the sharing of data and knowledge about coastal and marine areas in Zanzibar. Through these efforts, ZanSea aims to strengthen local expertise and improve data accessibility concerning Zanzibar's vital coastal and marine environments.
