Welcome to the Climate Risk Database. We invite you to access CRD datasets, but please note that your access is subject to your agreement with these Terms of Use.
By using the CRD services you agree to the following:
You accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions.
You agree that CRD holds copyrights and other rights to the Work provided by CRD.
You agree and grant the rights to the users of CRD to use the data and content that you upload.
You agree to provide information to the users for the content which is assigned to you as an owner.
About the Platform
CRD is an open access web-based platform operated by Resilience Academy at the University of Turku. The platform serves as a digital geospatial data repository supporting research, education, and disaster-risk management practices.
The platform provides:
Geographic Information System (GIS) data related to climate risk and resilience, allowing users to visualise and generate maps.
A platform for interdisciplinary knowledge sharing among resilience agencies, university communities, and stakeholders.
Tools for data management, quality assessment, and collaborative data curation.
Definitions
Platform — The Climate Risk Database (CRD), an open access web-based geospatial data platform.
You — An individual or entity exercising rights under this Agreement.
Administrators — Persons authorised by CRD to manage and maintain the platform.
Contributors — Individuals or entities authorised by Administrators to upload content to the platform.
Data Curators — Persons responsible for data quality assessment, metadata completeness, and data publishing.
License Terms
Nothing in these Terms of Use is intended to reduce, limit, or restrict any uses free from copyright protection.
Subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement, CRD grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:
Reproduce, distribute, and publicly perform the work, and to incorporate the work into collections.
Create, reproduce, distribute, and publicly perform adaptations, provided that you clearly identify that changes were made to the original work.
Individual datasets may have specific license terms. Please check the metadata of each dataset for its specific license before use.
Data Quality & Attribution
Contributors are solely responsible for the quality and metadata of the content they upload.
When using CRD data, you must provide appropriate attribution to the original data source and the Climate Risk Database.
The CRD team reserves the right to review, edit, or remove content that does not meet quality standards.
Liability
The Data Managers have the right but no duty to pre-screen, refuse, edit, move, or remove any content.
CRD is not responsible for your access to or use of or inability to access or use any linked site.
Data is provided 'as is' without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
If you are a contributor that is not a CRD registered member, you agree to consult and obtain the approval of the CRD administrators.
Privacy
CRD collects minimal personal information necessary for account management. Your usage data may be collected for analytics purposes to improve the platform. We do not share personal information with third parties.
Changes to Terms
CRD reserves the right to update these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
